Gabe Girard

This is Gabe Girard, the principal during my Grade 11 and 12 years. He is mentioned many times in my book. It was he who made it possible for to me to teach (quite against the official regulations ) at the school in May and June of 1965 when I was only 19. He later became the first superintendent of the Boundary School Division and still later an MP elected in 1969. When he resigned his job as superintendent, he was replaced by Ray LeNeal who was my principal during the Snow Lake years. In this picture Gabe is sitting on the cement work beside the front steps of the school. The school cornerstone with the date 1916 can be seen behind him.
