Gordon Bell JMC Champs, 1973

Our success with the JMC in 1972 inspired us to try even harder in 1973 and Gordon Bell won again! From L to R the winners are Marty Green, Bill Leslie and Matt Ellis. On an individual basis Bill was one of the top students in Canada. I'm temped to say 3rd, but I am no longer certain. I know a year later when he was in Grade 12 he was third in Canada in the Mathematical Olympiad. But the truly remarkable member of this team was Matt Ellis. He was only in Grade 9 at the time! I think Gordon Bell was the only school to have won the JMC for two consecutive years. But a few years later SJR was to beat that record with three consecutive wins in 1977, 78 and 79.
